Dr. Arun Nigavekar, Chairman, University Grants
Commission, laid the foundation stone of the IndSearch Educational
Campus and inaugurated the IndSearch Biodiversity Campus on 16th
September 2005. Dr. Ashok Kolaskar, Vice-Chancellor, University of
Pune, inaugurated the Biodiversity Exhibition showing the different
species of flora and fauna in the campus.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Arun Nigavekar brought
out the distinguishing features of IndSearch that have made it a
unique seat of learning. IndSearch, with enough full time faculty
in various functional areas of management and environmental consciousness
has been made to stand out from other management institutes. He pointed
out that IndSearch is one of the first institutes in India to define
an environmental policy and make an effort of incorporating it into
its working system. Dr. Nigavekar explained the metamorphic change
that management education has undergone over the last 10 years, how
the technological revolution has fragmented the core industry into
borderless manufacture and made marketing a global phenomenon. He
also explained how the service sector has contributed significantly
to the GDP of the nation and that this aspect of management has a
new global feel and culture. He commended IndSearch on creating a
unique biodiversity campus.
Dr. Ashok Kolaskar said that the need of the hour
is to create everything at a global standard level and nothing less,
which also includes education. He complemented Dr. Ashok Joshi – Founder
Director, IndSearch, on his out-of-the-box thinking, which is different
and innovative. The creation of this biodiversity campus, he added,
is indeed a reflection of this out-of-the-box thinking and vision.
The consortium method of working and networking that IndSearch has
adopted by way of signing MOUs with Universities abroad and industries
should become a norm in education. Then the quality of education
will dramatically improve.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Dr. Ashok Joshi Founder
Director, IndSearch, said that indepth learning and teaching, based
on empirical research, will create management students with a human
face having sensitivity towards ethical, social and environmental
issues. He explained that, of the six acres of the campus, two acres
will comprise the education, residential and amenities campus and
four acres will be the biodiversity campus, which will invigorate
the enthusiasm and confidence level of the students. Mr. Pramod Parkhi,
Managing Trustee – IndSearch, said that IndSearch is trying
to establish a Centre for Cooperative Banking Management.
Dr. Kolaskar conferred the title of Professor Emeritus
of Management Practices at IndSearch on Prof M.K. Kanade.
